World Record Attempt goes with a BANG!
On Monday July 13 one of our tenants took part in an event to set a new Guiness World Record. Julian Rudall who works for Creditsafe Group in Caspian Point 1 took part in the “Stick It To MS” event at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena. The event was two fold – to raise as much money as possible for the MS Society and also to break the Guinness World Record for the largest drum kit ensemble which originally stood at 533.
The day started with a very early 8:00am load-in to the Arena. 4.5 hours later, 582 drummers were all set, ready to beat their way into the record books. Introduced by John Thompson (Cold Feet, The Fast Show, Coronation Street), the eager masses drummers – including Karl Brazil (James Blunt) and Don Powell (Slade) – took to their drums for the record attempt.

The rules set by Guinness stated that all drummers had to play a set groove/pattern/beat together for a minimum of 5 minutes. As you can imagine, 582 drummers playing at the same time was very, very, very load – the VU meter peaked at 130dB and averaged 105dB. The record was broken and to date £34,535.00 has been raised for the MS Society.
